About Us

Located in Indianapolis, Indiana, our center offers high school juniors and seniors from 11 school districts the opportunity to set an exciting new direction for themselves through comprehensive career training that combines experiential learning with real-world work experience.

Students enrolled at Area 31 attend career preparation classes for half of their school day—either in the morning or afternoon—while spending the remaining half at their home high schools. This structure allows students to immerse themselves in specialized programs without compromising their traditional high school experience.

Our mission is to activate and accelerate student learning, guided by our core beliefs in the power of belonging, collaboration, and growth. We offer a diverse array of programs across multiple pathways, including Advanced Manufacturing and Technology, Communication, Construction and Manufacturing, Health Sciences, Education and Human Services, Public Safety, and Transportation. These programs are designed to prepare students for high-wage, high-demand careers immediately after high school or to provide a head start on college degrees, with opportunities to earn transferable college credits.

As a STEM Certified School recognized by the Indiana Department of Education and an Endorsed Early College program by CELL at the University of Indianapolis, Area 31 Career Center exemplifies innovative approaches to education. Our emphasis on inquiry, project-based learning, community engagement, and student-centered classrooms prepares students for success in the 21st century.
