Chef Daniel Schifano Named MSD of Wayne Secondary TOY

Area 31 Career Center proudly announces that Chef Daniel Schifano has been selected as the MSD of Wayne Township Secondary Teacher of the Year and will advance as the district’s nominee for the Indiana State Teacher of the Year.

Chef Schifano has led the Early College Culinary Program for over a decade, launching the first program of its kind in Indiana in partnership with Vincennes University. His students can earn up to 36 college credits and complete an associate degree before graduation.

His students have earned seven State Championships in SkillsUSA competitions and recently placed third in a global World Foods Jr. competition. They also give back through community projects like the Westminster Food Fight, raising over $30,000 annually for local food banks.

Beyond the kitchen, Chef Schifano mentors new educators, leads professional development, and serves as President of the Wayne Township Classroom Teachers Association, advocating for teachers districtwide.

He also holds an MBA in Educational Leadership and received a 2023 Lilly Endowment grant for a culinary study tour in Italy.

We congratulate Chef Schifano on this well-earned honor and wish him the best as he moves to the state selection process.
