Early College Student Spotlight

Meet Mikas Aregay, a dedicated Early College Precision Machining students, who has been shaping his future since 8th grade. After learning about the Vincennes Early College machining program, he knew it was the perfect fit for his career aspirations. With plans to study engineering in college, he is laying a solid foundation by gaining hands-on experience in machining and mastering the skills needed for success in his field.

Beyond the classroom, Mikas is highly involved in extracurricular activities. He is an active participant in Esports, the National Honor Society, the National Technical Honor Society, after-school tutoring, and SkillsUSA, where he competes in job interviewing and CNC mill programming.

A fun fact about machining: precision is key! As Mikas puts it, "math is crucial because the parts we make have to be very precise." He credits Mr. Hill, his machining instructor, as one of his greatest teachers throughout his high school career. "Mr. Hill is very knowledgeable and patient with students," he says, praising his teacher for creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.

This student's dedication to academics and extracurricular activities shows his commitment to excellence and his bright future in engineering and machining.
