Machining Their Own Tools

Machining Their Own Tools

The students in the Area 31 Vincennes Early College Precision Machining class are actively engaged in an exciting project: machining their very own bench vice. Guided by the technical specifications outlined in the university curriculum, each student is tasked with producing a fully functioning bench vice by the end of the semester.

This project involves meticulous cutting and machining of several key components, including the body, jaws, screw, and internal mechanisms of the vice. Precision is crucial, as each piece must meet specific tolerances to ensure proper assembly and functionality in the final product.

Currently, our students are utilizing mills and lathes to craft their components for this long-term project. We are proud of their dedication and skills as they work towards completing this significant milestone in their machining education!
