Area 31 Students Represented at Governor’s Proclamation Signing

Yesterday, Governor Braun officially signed a proclamation declaring February as Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month in the state of Indiana. The proclamation highlights the vital role CTE plays in preparing students for high-skill, high-demand careers and underscores the strong support CTE continues to receive at both the state and federal levels. This support is critical in ensuring students have access to meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that lead to real opportunities and positive outcomes.

Area 31 was proud to be represented at the signing by pre-nursing students Maci Turner, Gustavo Chavez, Taylor Brown, Naomi Oparaugo, Nathan Gonqueh, and Jocelyn Sanchez, Director Brittany Kloer, Career Coach Adam Pearish, pre-nursing instructors Dayna Atkinson and Tiffany Wolfork. The event showcased the impact of CTE programs and the voices of students who are directly benefiting from them. “Being part of CTE has helped me feel confident about my future in healthcare and that it’s not just important here, but to the whole of Indiana,” said Jocelyn Sanchez, a pre-nursing student. “The opportunity to visit the statehouse, meet our elected officials, and be in the governor’s office was really cool to be a part of and hear about the importance of CTE. Hearing the governor’s speech gave me insight on how great of an opportunity we have to be a part of it,” said Ben Davis junior, Taylor Brown. Fellow student Maci Turner added, “CTE has given me direction and purpose. I’m not just learning content, I’m preparing for a career I’m passionate about. The governor even said this is the best path to take in my career, and I appreciated the opportunity to meet him, Dr. Jenner, and Senator JD Ford..” Area 31 is honored to support students Jocelyn, Taylor, and Maci, and to celebrate CTE Month by continuing to expand opportunities that connect education to career success.
