Work-Based Learning Spotlight: Valeria Perez-Tenorio

Area 31 is proud to highlight Valeria Perez-Tenorio, a senior at Ben Davis High School, who is gaining hands-on experience through the Early Childhood Education Capstone course. As part of her Work-Based Learning placement, Valeria works each afternoon at Giants Preschool, where she assists teachers by supporting students at learning stations, including activities designed for developmentally appropriate sensory learning.

Valeria’s career goal is to become a preschool teacher, and she is already on the path to success. Through this course, she will earn her Child Development Associate (CDA) certification from Ivy Tech. After graduation, Valeria plans to complete her associate degree at Ivy Tech before transferring to Ball State University to continue her studies in early childhood education.

When asked about her favorite part of the experience, Valeria shared, “I love working with the kids and seeing how each student uniquely develops.”
