NOTE: Students are required to wear a uniform, shoes, and name tag. Students must provide a TB and Hepatitis B health certificate.
Course Competencies and Requirements
- Learn duties and responsibilities of administrative and clinical medical assistants
- Learn to assist in minor surgical procedures, record vital signs, perform venipuncture, administer EKGs and injections
- Curriculum includes anatomy and physiology: all body systems and organization
- Study exam room procedures, aseptic practices, medical spelling and terminology, and law and ethics
- Office skills taught include implementing basic accounting procedures, filing insurance claims, billing and scheduling patients, preparing medical charts, reports, keyboarding and dictation and correspondence
- After graduation, students who complete the program with a 70% or above will be eligible to take the CCMA certification
- Dual College Credits and Curriculum offered by Ivy Tech Community College

NOTICE: Students in this program may be assigned to a Brownsburg or Wayne Township location based on considerations such as program enrollment numbers and the student’s home high school. The Area 31 Enrollment Committee makes enrollment decisions, and placement decisions are made by Area 31 Career Center administration.
